mikailborg: I can't even remember what event I was attending, but I must have been taking it seriously. (slaine)

Well...

I watched them put my cat to sleep today.

Okay, technically my mom's cat, and an animal I've seen only occasionally since I moved out to be with Rain. But.

Pris was a friendly little animal who, throughout most of my twenties, kept me company, soothed bruised feelings, and generally offered unconditional support when I needed it. For a cat, she was very affectionate and open.

She became very very sick quickly, over a period of a few days. It was the vet's opinion that medical treatment would just prolong her suffering, and to be honest, she got so much sicker over the short time I was there that I'm not sure she would have seen tomorrow anyway. We're still not perfectly sure what was wrong.

So, anyway. I'm sure I'll be over this shortly, but right now...

I watched them put my cat to sleep today.

I appreciate it... I think I'm about back to emotional center. Spending a day on LiveJournal helped :)

D'oh. Sorry, Michael. If she's the one I'm thinking of, she was a funny cat. It is better that she wasn't suffering, but putting an animal you're fond of to sleep is never easy. :(

I couldn't look at her while they did it... and afterward I had to keep reminding myself that the little calico body was just a shell, it wasn't her any more. Otherwise I think I might have freaked. Thanks for the kind words... they mean a lot.

*hugs* It's always hard when it's an animal's time, I've never gotten used to it. I hope you're doing alright, be sure to snuggle your kitty tonight.

:) Thank you {{{hugs back}}} If KayLee is smart (and she is) she'll take her chance this week to get away with murder, knowing I'll be a lot more forgiving. *grin*

I have been very nice to her since Monday afternoon!

cats so often get sick very, very quickly. But you have to remember - they have multiple lives - if she was that good to you - she'll go be that good to other people now, in her next cat life.

Would that we could all be cats.

I have planned to be a pampered housecat in my next incarnation, but I doubt I've accrued enough points in this life to earn that. I better get going, hadn't I? :)
