You think Spock had problems?

A few people who have seen "Superman Returns" have wondered in my presence about a certain plot point from the movie. I don't want to say too much more about this plot point, for it could be considered a bit of a spoiler, but here is an article by a Famous Science Fiction Writer on the subject.

(The article doesn't help, but is kinda funny anyway.)

You may want to put a bit more of a disclamer... I think the article gives something away that is more than a 'bit' of a spoiler.

While I admit that it's kinda funny, I've had this debate with a friend before. And I think Superman has a little more finite control than that. Sure, it's a slightly uncontrollable moment, but dammit really. Has he ever accidently harmed someone while saving them? He doesn't have a Spiderman/Gwen Stacey moment in his past that I know of.

I dunno, the whole thought of it has bugged me for some time since my friend brought it up in the context of a Superman/Wonder Woman as a couple debate. It makes me want to throw up my hands and roll my eyes.

Well - I don't think Niven was being 100% serious about the article. (In fact, when interviewed about it on TV for the release of the original movie, he barely held a straight face long enough for the tape to stop rolling.)

It's a comic-book world with abuses of physics lying all over the place. Who are we to worry about details of biology? :)
