Wired Magazine reports that researchers are developing a system that could tie your DVDs to your fingerprint, requiring that you authorize each playback with a fingerprint scanner built into your player.

And once they do that, the MPAA has sold me their very last g**d*** DVD.

Isn't that just fun. It won't happen, though. Can you see consumers buying DVDs that only one person in the family could use? "I'm sorry, H, you can't watch your DVD today because your mother's at work." And if they start coding it to allow, say, four fingerprints, then my aunt's family *still* couldn't use it because they have 9 people in the family unit.

Yeah, I don't think that consumers would actually stand for that one. Still, it's amazing to me that anyone thinks it'swa good idea.
