Sigh.

If I shave with an electric razor, the skin under my jaw stays rough and stubbly, and becomes raw and irritated as well, to the point where I can't wear a high-collared shirt without going insane.

If I shave with a blade, I get a reasonably smooth surface under there, but one covered with tiny drops of blood where the skin there is apparently just uneven enough to take a dozen tiny nicks every time. I can wear collared shirts, but they better be dark if I don't want the stains to show.

I despise shaving.

So, what type of blades are you using? Have you considered using the sensitive skin-type razors? Those are a little more expensive, but they are a little kinder than your standard 10-pack for $1. :) (I know this because I use men's razors to shave my legs -- ladies' razors suck boulders.)

Right now, I'm using Gillette Mach 3 blades with the skin-lube strip. It's the first blade razor I've found that really goes through my hardwood beard hair efficiently (still makes a sound like sandpaper across a turntable needle, though).

Maybe I'll have to check out the sensitive-skin kind, I'm willing to try anything right now.
