Yeah,,, the problem is there's someone I really need to avoid who knows people in those groups and might show up. Know much about the local SCA?

Not much. I bumped into some of them at a recent Living History event in a local park, they were nice. One of my co-workers and friends from Tech is or was a Baron round these parts, though.
