Colleen has mentioned that many folks from Asian countries avoid the single-use wooden chopsticks when they can due to the bleaching and other chemicals involved in making them. Not sure if that also covers single-use bamboo ones. Anything above the fast-food level in Japan had reusable chopsticks, usually just plastic of course.
